South African Ambassador HE Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba celebrates 18 July “Nelson Mandela International Day” with members of diplomatic missions in Ankara.
Every year on 18 July South Africans together with the international community honours the former president and international icon Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela International Day is a global call to action for people everywhere to take responsibility for changing the world into a better place. The event initially started with people being asked to give 67 minutes of their time and moved on from an ad hoc and individualised initiative towards addressing issues affecting our society.
In this spirit the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in collaboration with UNHCR and the Asylum and Migration Research Center (IGAM), will be donating a variety of essential items to refugees and those in need . The aim is to change the world for the better, just as Mandela did.
