BIRTH CERTIFICATE
Full birth certificates are issued upon request to persons who are South African citizens and whose births were duly registered in South Africa.
Requirements
- Completed form BI-154 (www.home-affairs.gov.za/documents/bi-154.pdf)
- Completed form BI-529E (www.home-affairs.gov.za/forms/citizenship/bi-529.pdf)
- Prescribed fee of € 6.00 to be deposited into the Embassy bank account
- Copy of abridged birth certificate
Registration of Foreign Birth (persons under 1 year)
Requirements
- Completed form BI-24 *
- Completed form BI-529E (www.home-affairs.gov.za/forms/citizenship/bi-529.pdf)
- Prescribed fee of € 6.00 to be deposited into the Embassy bank account
- Copy of parents South African passports
- Certified copy of Birth Registration Sample (Dogum Kayit Ornegi) from the Civil Registrar’s Office (Nufus Muderlugu) and original
- Marriage certificate of parents (if applicable)
Registration of Foreign Birth (persons 1 year up to 15 years)
Requirements
- Completed form BI-24/1 *
- Completed form BI-529E (www.home-affairs.gov.za/forms/citizenship/bi-529.pdf)
- Prescribed fee of € 6.00 to be deposited into the Embassy bank account
- Copy of parents South African passports
- Certified copy of Birth Registration Sample (Dogum Kayit Ornegi) from the Civil Registrar’s Office (Nufus Muderlugu) and original (if applicable)
- Marriage certificate of parents (if applicable)
Registration of Foreign Birth (persons 15 years and older)
Requirements
- Completed form BI-24/15 *
- Completed form BI-529E (www.home-affairs.gov.za/forms/citizenship/bi-529.pdf)
- Prescribed fee of € 6.00 to be deposited into the Embassy bank account
- Copy of parents South African passports
- Certified copy of Birth Registration Sample (Dogum Kayit Ornegi) from the Civil Registrar’s Office (Nufus Muderlugu) and original (if applicable)
- Marriage certificate of parents (if applicable)
* Note: Forms BI-24, BI-24/1 and BI-24/15 can not be downloaded and must be obtained from the Embassy
MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
Persons who were married in South Africa and whose marriages were registered in South Africa may apply for their marriage certificates subject to the following requirements:

LETTER OF NO IMPEDIMENT
This document is issued by Home Affairs to confirm marital status.

- Letter of request from applicant
- Prescribed fee of € 4.00 to be deposited into the Embassy bank account
DEATH CERTIFICATE
Death Certificates of persons who died in South Africa can be obtained by formal application.
