 PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION UPDATED

The South African Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, presents the key message for the Presidential Inauguration following South Africa’s sixth democratic general election since the end of Apartheid in 1994

 “Together Celebrating Democracy: Renewal and Growth for a Better South Africa”

South Africa will inaugurate its sixth democratically elected President after the national general elections. The Presidential Inauguration will take place in Pretoria which is the national seat of government. The Deputy President will also be inaugurated during this process.

The theme for the inauguration is: “Together Celebrating Democracy: Renewal and Growth for a Better South Africa”. It reinforces that everyone has a role to play in building a brighter tomorrow. It emphasises that we must build on our achievements and work even harder to tackle poverty, inequality and unemployment.

South Africa appreciates the support of the international community.

• Heads of State and Governments from around the world will converge on South Africa to witness the inauguration of our sixth democratically-elected President.

• South Africa expresses its appreciation to our many friends in the international community for their continued support.

• We also express our gratitude to many people across the world who have shared in our journey over the last 25 Years of Freedom and Democracy.

The inauguration takes the form of a formal ceremony to mark the beginning of the President’s term of office. During the inauguration the President will deliver an address to inform South Africans of his vision and intent during his term of office.
