Mersin Ascends Durban!
The South African Honorary Consul in Mersin, Mr Numan Olcar, visited Durban from 15-18 April 2016. Mr Olcar was accompanied by a representative of the Lord Mayor of Mersin as well as the Secretary General of the Mersin Municipality, the Deputy Chief of Tarsus Zoo and 4 Members of Council.
The delegation held meetings with the Durban Municipality including the Mayor of Durban, Mayor James Nxumalo, as well as visiting the Durban Zoo among others. The Mersin delegation intends signing a sister city agreement between Mersin and Durban which will see relations between South Africa and Turkey strengthening.
